RICHLAND TOWNSHIP -- A unique event was held in Johnstown Sunday for people in the community to, believe it or not, snowboard and ski in the middle of July.

A Johnstown native has made it snow in summer. This is the second year Doltyn Snedden helped skiers and snowboarders enjoy their passion when the weather wouldn't.

"This event, to me, is a better picture as to what needs to happen here in our community,” Snedden said. “We work hard just to do something we love for one day."

Planet Ice donated more than 30 truckloads of snow. The “Rail Jam” event was held behind Ski Den Sports along Scalp Avenue in Richland Township.

Snowboarders and skiers traveled from Ohio, New York, Virginia and as far as Michigan for the event.

Organizers said they hope to make this an annual tradition.
