INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver that fled the scene of a vehicle pursuit Saturday evening in Indiana County.
According to a press release, a state trooper was conducting speed enforcement along Wayne Avenue in White Township when they observed a black Dodge Journey SUV traveling northbound going 66 mph in a 35 mph zone.
State police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to yield to the patrol unit's lights and sirens.
State police also say a Precision Immobilization Technique maneuver was attempted but was ineffective.
The press release states that the suspect then turned off Oakland Avenue and into Regency Plaza where the vehicle became disabled after striking a curb.
According to state police, the male driver and a male passenger then fled on foot and the passenger was apprehended by troopers when he fled down a hillside.
State police also say that there were also two adult female passengers and a male juvenile passenger in the vehicle.
According to the press release, troopers seized a rifle that was located inside the vehicle.
State police say surveillance video from a nearby business shows the driver fleeing the scene after hitting the curb and being picked up by a dark-colored sedan, believed to be a Honda Accord, which departed onto North Avenue.
The press release states that all four passengers were taken into custody and later released pending further investigation.
State police ask that anyone with information on the identity of the driver to contact Trooper Ryan Williams at 724-357-1960.
