A Michigan man whose license was suspended stunned a judge -- and everyone else in court -- when he was seen behind the wheel of a car during a Zoom call.

In the footage, Hon. Judge Cedric Simpson can't believe his eyes as the defendant, Corey Harris, joins the video call while driving.

Mr. Harris, are you driving?" Simpson asks.Actually, I"m pulling into my doctor's office, actually.” Harris says. "So, just give me one second. I'm parking right now."

Simpson appears amused before he tosses his pen on his desk and rests his head in his hand out of frustration.

"Are you stationary?" the judge asks.

"I'm pulling in right now at this second -- yes, I am," Harris says, apparently unaware that everyone is shocked.

People in the room look confused, with some trying to hide their smiles and stifle laughter.

Harris' assistant public defender identifies herself and requests an adjournment of the case for four weeks, but Simpson eventually says no.

"OK, so maybe I don't understand something," the judge says. "This is a driving with a licence suspended -- and he was just driving. And he doesn't have a license."

The public defender says yes and the defendant's jaw drops when he realizes his mistake.

I'm looking at his recond and he doesn't have a license," Simpson says.I don't even know why he would do that," the judge adds.

A few moments of silence pass before Harris says, "Hello?" He is then asked to wait a minute.

Simpson goes on to revoke Harris' bond and instructs Harris to surrender to authorities.

"Failure to turn himself in will result in a bench warrant with no bond," Simpson says.

Harris then throws his head back and says, "Oh, my God."

The two-and-a-half minute Zoom call was posted on YouTube as part of the judge's six-hour criminal docket for May 15.

"I can't tell which is better, the judge's expression or the defendant's," one person commented.

"Forget critical thinking, do people even think any more?" another wrote.
