Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Commissioner Antonio “Tony” Scotto announced his resignation from the Clearfield County Commission at Tuesday’s meeting.
Scotto said he will resign effective October 10. He said he was already planning not to run for re-election in November 2023.
Scotto told 6 News he is taking a job in the private sector and will not be leaving Clearfield County. He thanked his supporters and family for giving him the opportunity to be commissioner.
Commissioner Dave Glass said it is now up to President Judge Fredric Ammerman to appoint someone to finish out Scotto’s term.
Scotto is a Republican. Glass said the judge must appoint someone from the same party to replace Scotto.
Scotto said he doesn’t have any candidates in mind on who should fill his vacancy.
“I’m sure they will be a solid citizen, carefully vetted and can do the job,” Scotto said.
Glass and Commissioner John Sobel voted to accept Scotto’s resignation.
