ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — The Altoona Public Library is now showing creativity with a message.
Organizers say the display of artworks were created by children battling cancer, while other pieces featured pay tribute to children who lost their battles.
“Art can be very therapeutic,” says Dawn Morden with the Brian Morden Foundation. “Music, you know, all of the arts are so therapeutic because it lets you express things without words, that you sometimes couldn’t express with words.”
“The art piece that I created is a surreal landscape of a child trying to navigate something that is very unknown, and a little bit scary, but at the same time, just colorful and beautiful,” says Pamela Snyder-Etters. “Little bits of shining hope, which are the ribbons across the piece in gold leaf, to really be the beacons of hope for any child that is facing this disease.”
Organizers say the exhibit will be up until the end of the month and is free to the public.
It's located on the first floor of the library.
