Authorities with the Department of Justice say a State College man was found guilty Wednesday on charges related to the January 6th Capitol riot in Washington D.C.

Investigators say 28-year-old Brian Gunderson was found guilty of obstructing an official proceeding and assaulting, resisting or impeding law enforcement.

Authorities say Gunderson is accused of "joining a mob of rioters" inside the Parliamentarian’s Office of the building.

Prosecutors allege that Gunderson spent approximately eight minutes inside the office and say that he reportedly wrote a note "expressing mock remorse."

The note reportedly said, "sowwy for damage," along with a crying emoticon, according to federal officials.

Investigators say Gunderson was reportedly removed from the building, by police, prior to re-entering the Capitol where he later "rushed an officer and hit him with his arm."

Prosecutors also say that Gunderson allegedly posted on social media about his involvement in the days following the riot.

We all stormed the us capital and tried to take over the government.

Gunderson was arrested and charged by the FBI in January of 2021.

Federal authorities say he is scheduled to be sentenced in January of 2023 and faces a maximum of 20 years for the obstruction charge and a maximum of 8 years for the assault/resisting law enforcement charge.
