St. Marys man killed in head-on crash in Jefferson County, PSP says

State police say a Saint Marys man was killed last week when his motorcycle collided head-on with a vehicle along Route 28 in Snyder Township, Jefferson County.

According to the crash report, troopers say 23-year-old Zachary Gausman was reportedly traveling northbound, on the evening of Sept. 28, when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck a Dodge Challenger head-on.

Police say Gausman was reportedly ejected from his motorcycle and was thrown onto the windshield of the car before going airborne a second time and landing on the shoulder of the roadway.

Troopers say Gausman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say none of the four individuals inside the car were injured in the crash.

Police noted that it is unclear as to why Gausman crossed into the opposite lane and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Gausman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the crash report.
