Vale Wood Farms held a pasture party Friday so that consumers could learn more about their “Moo to You” motto and see their family-friendly farm.

It was all about food, farming and family at Vale Wood Farms' pasture party. The farm was open to the public and filled with food vendors, wine, music and of course famous Vale Wood ice cream and drinks.

“It’s my family that is here to park cars and sell you drinks and serve you ice cream; it’s our pleasure. It is such a pleasure to be here and welcome the community,” says Carissa Itle-Westrick, director of business development for the farm.

The party was filled with kids young and old hoping for a sweet treat and a glimpse of the cows.

But for the farm officials, they hope those in attendance learned a bit about where their milk comes from.

“We are so proud to partner with our community and to open our doors and to invite people out to meet our family and to meet the cows on pasture,” says Itle-Westrick. “To really see where their milk comes from.”

They also tell us agritourism is vital to the farm's economy and success.

“Agritourism is an important part of our family business,” says Itle-Westrick, “because it helps us to diversify and it is another way to get people out to the farm and to learn about where their food comes from.”

The farm will be hosting another pasture party in late August.
