Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — According to Jefferson County EMS Director Tracy Zents, firefighters from multiple northern counties have been battling a large forest fire for most of the afternoon.
Officials say the fire is located within the Allegheny National Forest, in the area of River Road in Belltown.
Authorities say crews have been on scene since approximately 12:45 p.m.
Departments from Jefferson, Elk, Clarion, Clearfield and Forest county are all assisting.
Officials say there is approximately 1,900 acres of land involved in the fire, although not all of it is burning.
Authorities say no injuries have been reported and crews are being dispatched to relieve the departments that are currently on scene.
Officials are asking people not to burn anything for several days.
Zents noted that planes have been called in to assist with extinguishing the flames.
