SOMERSET, Pa. - Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission addressed the current status of the dam at High Point Lake and said residents should remain on high alert.

Officials said water is slowly draining from the dam and is expected to drop 12 to 15 feet in the next two weeks.

Officials said there was a malfunction with the intake of the dam, leading to too much water running through a pipe under the dam.

Officials said according to their map, only 13 people are believed to be in the flood zone and that residents of Confluence should be safe as they live near tall enough river banks.

Despite reassurance from state officials, local fire chiefs are still urging residents to have bags packed and be ready to go.
