Pentz Run Youth Services in DuBois is a residential program for at risk disadvantaged youth. This afternoon they hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for their new facility in hopes of continuing that mission.

Pentz Run Youth Services provides alternative living arrangement for kids throughout the commonwealth.

"Those are the kids who might have some behavioral issues or some lack of supervision at home, maybe some truency issues," said Debbie Gregori, Executive Director of Pentz Run Youth Services.

Currently Pentz Run has an 18-bed group home for youth and two apartments for transitional living youth.

But after today's groundbreaking they hope to add on to those services.

"In this new building we're going to have three more beds for the transitional living youth and we're going to add eight more beds for the group home youth," said Gregori.

Gregori said this new unit is going to be more structured than their current group home.

She said there's going to be individual beds and the programs will provide more one on one services.

Though the pandemic slowed things down for this facility, Gregori said she's excited to finally break ground.

She said it'll probably be a year until the new building is finished.

"One of the things we want to do is just create a continuum of care for the kids that we see, if we can't serve them in our current residential program we want to be able to create a place for them to go," said Gregori.

Officials said they plan to break ground on this new building within the next week.
