A judge in Pennsylvania decided kidnapping suspect Michael Burham will face charges for both that crime and for escaping from jail.

It all started in May, when he allegedly kidnapped a couple in their home and forced them to ride with him to Charleston, South Carolina.

Police say he was on the run from murder charges in a nearby New York community.

The wife told the court Monday what that 18-hour drive was like.

After a multi-state manhunt, authorities arrested Burham in South Carolina and brought him to Pennsylvania.

Then last month, he allegedly used multiple bed sheets braided together to escape from jail.

That started another manhunt lasting nine days until he was apprehended again.

Now, a judge says he'll face separate trials for the kidnapping and breaking out of jail.

That's in addition to the rape and arson charges he's facing in New York.
