WPXI-TV news anchor David Johnson announced in a Facebook post that both of his wife’s parents have died of the coronavirus.

Johnson said the two died within hours of each other at a Florida hospital.

“It's recently been said that eventually we'll all be touched in some way by the Coronovirus,” Johnson said.

“Last night, it happened to my family.”

Johnson said that his father-in-law contracted the virus nearly two weeks ago while his mother-in-law only recently contracted it.

The couple were placed in the same hospital room with their beds side-by-side, Johnson wrote.

“He succumbed before midnight, then only a couple of hours later, she left us,” Johnson wrote.

“In a scene befitting a storytale ending, as his body was being moved out of their room, the nurses told us that she noticed and said, ‘Together, Jerry!’

“And then she was gone.”

His father-in-law was 89 and his mother-in-law was 86.

Johnson was thankful for the community support.
