LORETTO, PA (WJAC) -- The Saint Francis football team opens their season on the road next Thursday in Akron, Ohio.
The Red Flash held a media luncheon today where we got to learn more about the team. Head coach Chris Villarrial is the most winningest coach in program history with 51 wins.
The roster this year is full of transfer students and local athletes. From our viewing area, 13 players are featured on the team. Villarrial said the local athletes come with a desire to win and a hard working 'blue collar' mentality.
One of the local players is kicker, Alex Schmoke, from Bellwodd-Antia. Schmoke led the NEC last season with 70 points.
We spoke with the former Blue Devil ahead of the Backyard Brawl Friday between Bellwood-Antis and Tyrone. The redshirt sophomore said that highly anticipated rivalry game is one of a kind.
