Wednesday marked the last Maker's Market of the year for Laurel Arts in Somerset county.

The Market was first introduced in July and ran once a month until today, though it will have a brief indoor return on December 3rd.

This event serves as an important space for local artisans, artists and makers of all sorts to showcase their work and provide a sense of community and exposure to artists in the area.

Though you might only think of art in the traditional sense, organizers emphasize that art exists in other spheres such as bread making, textile work and even growing food. The opportunity for all of them together creates a unique opportunity for all of them to mingle.

“The best part about this event is the networking," said Erin Mayak, the president of the Laurel Arts Board of Directors. "The vendors have already formed friendships. It’s been nice to see people just knowing each other week to week, helping each other set up their tents. It’s been a friendly environment here and that’s probably my favorite part of it, just getting to meet all of these people, so I think it provides a connection in our community.”

You can support Laurel Arts by attending the opening reception for their new Haunted exhibit Thursday at 6pm.
