Blair County, PA — “The very gear designed to protect us, is killing us.” says the President of the International Association of Firefighters, Edward Kelly. He tells the public that the IAFF is going to partner with law firms, in hopes of changing regulations regarding personal protective equipment. These include the removal of PFAS from equipment, that firefighters wear when exposed to their jobs dangers. Kelly states that compensation for personnel who have been injured because of these toxins, is also necessary.

DuBois Area School District named 1 of safest schools in state

DUBOIS - DuBois Area School District was named one of the top 30 safest schools in Pennsylvania, according to rankings compiled by niche.com. DuBois was named 28th in the state and 201 nationally regarding school safety. The study focused on a variety of factors including surveys from parents and students, law enforcement referrals and discipline records. "No other thing we do is more important than making sure when the students come in that they're safe and then get home safely,"

TSA officers recorded stealing items from passengers' luggage

MIAMI (TND) — Two TSA officers were recorded stealing items from luggage they were suppose to be screening. The officers in the recently released video were identified as Labarrius Williams and Josue Gonzalez. Williams and Gonzalez are seen taking items out of passengers' luggage and placing the items in their pockets at a security check point at the Miami International Airport. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office released the footage to The National Desk on Friday following the officers' arrests.

West Virginia man killed in Bedford County crash involving tractor-trailer

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police say a West Virginia man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash, involving a tractor-trailer, in Bedford County. Investigators say 70-year-old Walter Kwapien, of Morgantown, WV, was reportedly stopped at a stop sign, near the intersection of Allegheny Road and Hyndman Road, in Manns Choice Borough. Police say Kwapien then proceeded to cross Hyndman Road and was struck by a northbound tractor-trailer.
