NANTY GLO, Pa. (WJAC) — A new small business opened in Nanty Glo on Thursday. Dave and Kelly Morgan welcomed the public to their fourth gym, Morgainz Fitness, with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening. Morgainz offers personal training, fitness classes, metabolism testing, and body composition analysis. Their other locations are in Richland, Westmont, and Somerset. "We have doubled our space, it’s easier to get to, we have a great parking lot, lots of new equipment, and the local community has just embraced us.

Man saved from certain death on Everest criticized for thanking sponsors instead of savior sherpa

MOUNT EVEREST, Nepal (TND) — A seasoned climber who found himself at death's door on Mount Everest was incredibly fortunate to be rescued, but after he thanked his sponsors instead of the sherpa who saved him, he has been the recipient of some repeated online criticism. Malaysian mountaineer Ravichandran Tharumalingam was trapped in Mount Everest's infamous oxygen-limited and freezing "death zone" on May 18 when he was discovered by Gelje Sherpa, who was himself taking a client to the top of the world's highest mountain according to CNN and Insider.

Passavant Memorial Homes expands services to Bedford-Somerset DBHS

SOMERSET - Passavant Memorial Homes recently assumed operations of the Bedford-Somerset Developmental and Behavioral Health Services residential program, which includes eight community homes and 19 individuals with intellectual disabilities. Passavant Memorial Homes was selected as the provider of choice in May from a slate of qualified agencies, and officially transitioned the consumers on Oct.1. The transition was successful due to the collaborative efforts of Passavant Memorial Homes and Bedford-Somerset DBHS. Both organizations will continue to work together in support for providing quality services for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Bedford and Somerset counties.

police searching for suspect after Indiana County vehicle pursuit

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver that fled the scene of a vehicle pursuit Saturday evening in Indiana County. According to a press release, a state trooper was conducting speed enforcement along Wayne Avenue in White Township when they observed a black Dodge Journey SUV traveling northbound going 66 mph in a 35 mph zone. State police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to yield to the patrol unit's lights and sirens.

Suspect in custody following incident in Mount Union

UPDATE | HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police have confirmed that a suspect in custody following Friday's "barricade incident" in Mount Union Borough. Police say around 10 a.m., members of the US Marshals Service attempted to serve a warrant for 33-year-old Stephon Hoover. Authorities say Hoover reportedly fled into his residence, where he remained barricaded inside for several hours. Police say Hoover was eventually taken into custody without incident.
