Centre Co. workshop burns down after being struck by lightning, officials say

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a workshop in the Potters Mills area burned to the ground Monday afternoon after being struck by lightning. Officials say as severe weather was moving through the area, a lightning strike reportedly started a fire at a building along McClellan Lane. Investigators say multiple area fire departments were called to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported in the fire, according to fire officials.

Local Ham radio operators broadcasting from Johnstown Flood Memorial

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — “This is November 3 November, November 3 November. Special event station at the 135th anniversary of the Johnstown Flood, 1889.” Local Ham radio operators are transmitting from the Johnstown Flood National Memorial Friday night. They were given a permit from the National Park Service and a special call sign for the event by the FCC, to talk to other Ham radio operators worldwide. Operators will also be at the 195th anniversary of the Allegheny Portage Railroad event on June 22nd.

Local teen builds huge display to get residents in the Halloween spirit

MUNSON, Pa. – We’re halfway through October, which means we're approaching Halloween. One Clearfield County teen spent thousands of dollars to help get people into the spirit. "I just have free time,” decorator Park Lauffer said. “It's kind of a hobby that's gotten a little out of control." Lauffer told 6 News it all started with Christmas, but then the weather would get in the way with his setup. So he decided to go big for Halloween instead.
