Cambria County Library extends hours

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Cambria County Library in downtown Johnstown is changing its hours so that it will be open later. Library officials say starting Jan. 2, the library will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Cambria County Prison introducing new 'bio-grade' air filtration for health and savings

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials are hoping a new air filtration system at the Cambria County Prison will help save tax payers money. The county recently taking advantage of a grant to install a level five bio-grade security health system. Cambria County is only one of four in the state taking advantage so far, according to county leaders. The system will be installed by Germ Solutions USA. It's supposed to mitigate airborne and surface pathogens throughout the facility.

Former pharmacy exec gets 10-year sentence for role in meningitis outbreak that killed 11

HOWELL, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan judge sentenced the former executive of a specialty pharmacy to at least 10 years in prison Friday for the deaths of 11 people who were injected with tainted pain medication, part of a meningitis outbreak that affected hundreds across the U.S. in 2012. Barry Cadden's sentence for involuntary manslaughter will be served at the same time as his current 14 1/2-year federal sentence for crimes tied to the outbreak.

Pennsylvania to ban cell phone use while driving in effort to reduce distracted driving

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania will join the majority of states that ban motorists from handling a cell phone for almost any purpose while driving, as backers of the legislation hope to reduce distracted driving accidents and deaths after nearly two decades of pressing the measure. Gov. Josh Shapiro's office said Thursday that the Democrat will sign the bill, 18 years after he first introduced a similar bill when he served in the state House of Representatives.
