College football player Brian Battie on ventilator after shooting in Florida, coach says

Auburn running back Brian Battie has been hospitalized following a weekend shooting in Florida, where his brother was killed and three others were hurt. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a strip mall at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, finding a large crowd and multiple people who were shot in the parking lot. The office said in a statement that Tommie L. Battie IV was pronounced dead at the scene.

Man facing homicide charges in death of pregnant Amish woman

A man has been arrested after a five-day investigation into the death of a pregnant Amish woman in Crawford County earlier this week, state police said. According to a press release, state police were notified of a deceased female at a home on Fish Flats Road in Sparta Township around 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon and the death was investigated as a homicide. State police announced that Shawn Cranston, 52, had been identified and taken into custody Saturday morning.

Nearly a dozen crews respond to house fire in Portage Township

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — According to Cambria County dispatchers, nearly a dozen area fire crews responded to a house fire in Portage Township Tuesday morning. 911 officials say crews were dispatched to the home, located along the 400 block of Johnson Ave., around 10:30 a.m. Crews from Portage, Beaverdale, Keystone Regional, Summerhill, Adams, Ashville, Gallitzin, Blue Knob and Forest Hills fire departments were all dispatched to the scene, as well as Portage EMS and state police.

New health care facility comes to Clearfield County

CLEARFIELD - A new Penn Highlands Health Care facility is coming to Clearfield County. Lawrence Township Supervisors approved the plans for a walk-in medical clinic called Q-Care, which can be used by patients anytime without an appointment. The plans are to expand the former Northwest Savings Bank on River Road in Clearfield, across from the Big Lots Plaza. The existing building will be renovated and a new addition will be built to create the medical office.
